We would like to extend a sincere and deeply heartfelt thank you to the community support we’ve received in our time of need. It was great to spend a few hours in such great company, with delicious food, fun entertainment, and marvelous energy.

Special thanks to Cork for the great venue, and Lolo for the tasty food!

If you would like to make a donation to CEP to close the remaining gap, please visit our website at www.communityenergyproject.org/donate.html

Long-time volunteers – this party is for you! We couldn’t have reached so many people so quickly without you, and we want to throw a party in your honor. No matter how long it’s been since you last picked up a pair of snips or entered a piece of data, your contribution to your community is worth celebrating.

October marks the kickoff of the volunteer season here at CEP, and it’ll be time to put on warm hoodies and long pants yet again – and prepare for weatherization season! Are you interested in volunteering? This is your chance to meet past volunteers and get a feel for the experience from staff.

The party will be at Community Energy Project (422 NE Alberta Street, Portland) and will be on Thursday October 7th from 6-8pm. Free food!

For years now, CEP staff has been chasing roof leaks with buckets, covering computers with plastic during rainstorms, and climbing up on the roof in the pouring rain to try to stop the deluge on our heads.

(Date Change!) On Thursday, December 2,  we will be hosting a Raise the Roof! fundraising event at Cork – a Bottle Shop in the Alberta Arts District to pay for this critical repair. Mark your calendars, more information to come!

If you would like to donate to our Raise the Roof Project monetarily, with skilled labor, or supplies, please give us a call (503.284.6827 x102) or visit our website at http://www.communityenergyproject.org/donate.html

Tickets will be available on our donation page October 1st, 2010.

Here at CEP we get a great deal of work done every year… but you don’t necessarily want to hear about that! Here are some fun and simple highlights from this year regarding how many households we served:

  • 213 volunteers donated over 2,600 hours to their community through CEP
  • We served 941 households through weatherization workshops
  • Over 570 families took lead poisoning prevention workshops
  • Over 400 Seniors and People with Disabilities used our weatherization and small safety repair services
  • We certified over 200 contractors to work lead-safe through EPA regulations
  • Organizations from New York, Indiana, and Colorado utilized our Energy Educator Consultation Services

Hungry for statistics? We have our complete year-end reports (labeled 4th quarter) by program on our website HERE. There are even pie charts. Delicious!

With funding from the Portland Housing Bureau, CEP will now be able to do larger repairs (up to $2,500) for low-income seniors who live along the Interstate Corridor Urban Renewal Area! We will be working with local contractors, small businesses, nonprofits, and volunteers to get the work done. Such repairs include fixing gutters or sections of a roof, minor electrical and minor plumbing. More details to come!
